Fun Holiday Pics

Christmas Dresses

Pouting...OOOOO she was mad.

Christmas snacks and goodies (my mimosa too) :)

She helped Grandma and Mommy make french toast & homemade whipped cream. It was a feast!

My mother...teaching CK bad manners. Just kidding! They were rolling their tongues.

Chloe and Charli having Christmas Dinner at our house with the Archers.

My girls LOVE their Auntie.

She decorated cookies with Grandma and Grandpa...he has been waiting for 3 years to do this!

Santa

God bless Jennifer Terry! Thanks to Jenn and her girls (Payton & Alin) for having Charli over to play the Saturday before Christmas. Due to the snow and crummy roads and FREEZING cold, I wasn't able to get any shopping done the past few weeks. So, Jenn had Charli over for the day so Mark and I could get out and go shopping! Here are a few pics from their fun day. Santa came on a fire truck and they went to see him.

Ok, so my kid doesn't like being cold!!!

First sled ride.

She wouldn't sit on his lap but she did give him a high five!

Snow, Snow, Snow, Snow...Snow!

When the first storm hit, we didn't get much snow. HOWEVER, we were absolutely buried after that! It snowed for 3 days straight! Yesterday and today, it began to melt and a majority of it is gone. Here are some of our snow pics.

Toy Closet

I should have taken a before and after picture. Basically, before, it was a mess...toys were just on the floor or stacked in piles. We haven't been able to get to the back for weeks.

I painted and organized and now it is MUCH better! I am looking forward to embellishing the walls a bit!

The Cosby Show

I admit it. I love the Cosby Show. It was really popular as I was growing up. For many years, I have been a closet Cosby fan. Well, now I am going to shout it from the roof top! I LOVE THE COSBY SHOW.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy my fair share of TV sitcoms today. I have many favorites. However, The Cosby Show is my all time favorite.

The sitcom is an interesting thing. It entertains us for some 20 odd minutes every week (or every night for syndication favorites). Occasionally they touch on serious matters. But every week, there is a problem, a plot and it is always resolved completely and quickly! Ok, so we need to look past that. I like my sitcoms to be entertaining, not crude, witty, smart and most of all, I like them to make me laugh out loud. It is nearly impossible to find one today that is not crude :(.

I have found myself looking forward to the 4:00 hour each day. If I am able, I watch an hour of my favorite show. I love the Cosby Show because they have good old fashioned fun together as a family. They have realistic, everyday arguments. The only time there is anything of a sexual nature, it is between Clair and Cliff...a married couple!!!! Shocking! It is never crude and I just love that!

What brings on this post and my wanting to share my feelings with the world? Well, I watched and episode the other day about Vanessa wanting to wear makeup. She is 13 and Claire says absolutely not! Their conversation was so great! It had substance and the law was laid down with love...it was great. Now, I am not saying I am taking parenting tips from the Huxtables...but compared to the clothes that TV mom's "allow"" their 13 year-old daughters to wear, this was so refreshing. They had standards and they upheld them...

Vanessa goes to school and through the pushing of a "friend" she ends up with makeup on. The comic way that Claire finds out about the make up had me laughing out loud! She sent Vanessa to her room and her and Cliff went up later to discipline her. She was grounded and got a great talk from her mom...stern but loving...Imagine that...team parenting. The mom backs up the dad and vice versa.

I love the lessons that going to the dentist isn't that bad...it is important to be honest, it is a value to be careful with your money and no one is allowed to grow up too fast. In comparison...today's sitcoms (while I enjoy them as well), show kids how to sass their parents and break the rules without any real consequences.

I realize that I am making huge generalizations here but you get the idea right?

Winter Update

Well, over the past few weeks, we have been enjoying the holiday season. I have been in full swing with cheer. We missed my work party and Mark's is this Thursday. It is for employees only. This will me my first year without a party. Georgia was going to be dedicated on Sunday but due to the weather, we are canceling until further notice.

We got about 6 inches of snow today. It was kind of ironic. I had a migraine today. All that snow was reflecting light into the house...it felt super good on my eyes. Mark came home and let me sleep it off (with the help of drugs of course).

A visit with Santa...I dressed the kids up and we went to the mall to get this pic just as our winter storm started. Boy am I glad that we did it then. We have had temps around 3 degrees with the windchill...BRRRRRR!

Lots of days in PJs as CK has had a cold and then gave it to me. With it being so cold, PJs were the warmest option!!!
Our tree
Our house with lights and snow!

Georgia doing her Dr. Evil impersonation.

Charli with her main squeeze...Elmo!

Will and Katie Schei came for a visit. Charli LOVES them but did not feel like sharing her toys, especially Elmo. Good thing the Schei kids are the most well behaved I know and they just rolled with it!

Charli and Grandpa decorating the tree..

Check out the necklace. Super Gram bought it for her. The hat and that necklace are her faves lately. She told me I needed to get batteries because it didn't work.

We turned around and she was naked. So I took pictures so we can embarrass her later in life.

She is sooo excited to have her own tree. She was pointing out trees everywhere we went. When she came down from her nap and the tree was finished, she said "Oh look at my Christmas Tree! Grandma it is in my house!"

One of her favorite skills.

Getting ready to go see the snow. She hadn't really played in the snow before. She walked to the mailbox with Mark and that was about it. It was, "really, really cold!"

I have been doing Bible Study Fellowship over the past several weeks. I am learning so much that I never knew! To be honest, I wasn't excited about studying the Life of Moses. It is a part of the Bible I have read a lot. However, I am digesting and learning so much about the holiness of God. I have been convicted in that area. How seriously do we take the holiness of our God? Do you approach worship with reverence? I know that there are times I just go through the motions. It is a privilege to worship God and anything less that our best and reverence toward him is unacceptable. I am working hard and my worship being reverent this holiday season.

Martha? Rachel? Emril? - Never Heard of Them

I am so proud of myself. I made homemade bread from scratch and a yummy dinner yesterday. I am a baking fool! My bread was yummy...I could eat nothing but that for a very long time.

If I could figure out my phone, I would have my mom send me the pic of my cherry nut rolls from Thanksgiving. They looked like they walked off the page of a magazine into my kitchen!

Bleach and dish detergent = miracle worker!
I have my mom to thank for this one. So, if you have whites that are in need of stain removal or brightening this is a great trick. Fill your sink with HOT water. Add a little bleach and mix. Then add some dishwasher detergent (must be granules) and mix. Then throw your stuff in and leave for 10-20 minutes. Throw them in the wash and they will look as good as possible! I have found nothing that works better. Mom, comment this blog if I am wrong but I would say about a half cup of bleach and 1/4 detergent. I just used this on my dish towels that had coffee stains that had been washed and dried multiple times. They are bright white now!

On a side note: Verizon is still stupid. I continue to call a couple times a week and they are ignoring me.

Charli stories - Today, we were in the car. She said "Turn it off Mommy! Turn it off please!" I thought she meant the CD so I did...she kept saying it. When I asked her what she wanted off, she said, "The sun!"The sun was very bright today and was shining in her face.

She is becoming more and more independent (that is the nice way of putting it) these days. I told her that she needed to listen to mommy as we were waiting in the doctor's office today and she said (in a VERY sweet and cute tone), "No, I listen to Jesus!" How do you respond to that? I didn't...
