Two weekends ago we visited (for the second time) a church called Elevation Church. It is on the short list of churches we are deciding to make our home church. The pastor preached on reaping what you sow. I was really impacted by the sermon. It was deeply encouraging to me.
You see, I considered putting my 3 year old up for sale on Ebay that week (I AM JUST KIDDING!). Charli Kate was driving me crazy. She was being mean and inconsiderate and then there was....the whining!!!! I was feeling discouraged and out of energy. I was about to give up and quit persevering in my high expectations of her. I thought it would be easier to give in and let her have her way. I realized that while that would feel good today, I would reap the consequences for much longer. I also realized that she is listening to everything I say...the good and the bad. While she may not actively demonstrate and apply what she is learning, she is learning. I may have to tell her not to boss her sister around in 25 different ways each day for 2 years until that principle is applied but it WILL be applied.
If you don't have time to watch the sermon or the desire to watch it later, here is the basic idea.
You ALWAYS reap WHAT you sow. (If you plant a carrot seed...you get a carrot. I you allow bitterness to take root in your life, you will become bitter and resentful)
You ALWAYS reap LATER than you sow. (If you plant a carrot seed today...you won't eat carrots for a while. It may feel good to be bitter today but if it grabs root, look out down the road)
You ALWAYS reap MORE than you sow. (check out the size of a carrot see and the average size of a carrot. Just a little bitterness, when watered and allowed to fester can grow and become an overwhelming burden in your life.)
If I put good into Charli...I will see good come from her.
If I persist with her...I will see results in the future.
Even if I am only able to focus on a small thing...the spirit fruit that comes from it will be much greater than I could have imagined.
This principle can apply to anything in life. Think twice about what you are planting in your spiritual garden today!

R - This is good. Did you post the link for this sermon? I think I'll watch it. Thanks for writing. You are a great great mom! I love you!
PS - I would have been your highest bid on CK. FYI.
Just caught up on your blog, love your last post it is so true! Sorry you were feeling down about the move, you would not be normal if you didn't have days like that! And last but not least Katie would have guessed that movie right off she can quote the whole thing too! (but you probably already knew that!)
