Frank Ortenzio

It is Father's Day and I get to honor my Dad!

I was blessed with two Godly parents. That is something I am extremely grateful for. I am grateful for my childhood and the priorities that were there.

My dad taught me the importance of obedience, reverence for my heavenly father, that holiness is better than worldliness, that my heavenly father loves me more than I could know, that I am eternally saved, how to hold a bat, how to catch a ball (although I was not successful at either), how to ride my bike and how to play!

Some of my best memories include:

Putting up Christmas lights. I still get giddy when I do this each year. We had so much fun, every year, decking our house out with more lights than my mom would have liked (thanks for being a good sport Ma). When we look to buy a house, electrical outlets and roof lines are a big deal to me!

Watching Sports. My dad taught me a lot about sports. We loved watching basketball and golf together. I have and un-female love for both!

Forts. We used to make forts in the family room with blankets. We would camp out on the floor.

Many of these are fun and typical but they are special to me. The best memory I have is actually when I was sick. I remember my dad kneeling beside me, laying hands on me and praying over me. No more love, no more hope and no more peace could be felt in those moments.

Dad, thanks for all these memories and for the foundation you gave me. I love you.
